View status updates in the chat list

WhatsApp has a new feature up its sleeve for beta users of Android version 2.22.18.17: the ability to view status updates in the chat list. Currently, this tweak is rolling out in increments, so you might not see it right now, even if you participate in the beta.

What is the update for? Well, if one of your contacts posts a status update, you can also spot them in the chat list. All you have to do is click on their profile picture. If you don’t like this because you (like me) confidently ignore all status updates, then you can easily help yourself: if you mute all status updates, they won’t. will no longer appear in the discussion list.
