Google Wear OS: possibility to save smartwatch data soon

Currently, if you have a Wear OS smartwatch but then upgrade to a new phone, you will need to perform a hard reset on your wearable device to pair it with your new phone. There are workarounds, but generally it’s a cumbersome thing. Google Play Services beta v22.32.12 code now says that Google is working on a better solution.

It would then be possible to back up your Wear OS smartwatch data to Google One and then transfer it. This would simplify a seamless transition with all the previous information. XDA-Developers colleagues discovered the preparations for the new option.

It’s possible that Google will introduce this new data backup option alongside the introduction of the Pixel Watch. The latter is currently expected, like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, for October 2022.
