Ben White believes Arsenal’s “attitude and desire” played a key role in their perfect start to the season after coming back to beat Fulham.
The Gunners are the only England team to hold a 100% record this campaign as goals from Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Magalhaes canceled out Aleksandar Mitrovic’s opener to claim a 2-1 victory.
For Gabriel, his late winner atoned for his mistake which saw Mitrovic break the deadlock after the Brazilian defender was caught trailing in possession.
Victory leaves Mikel Arteta’s side top of the table ahead of Aston Villa’s visit on Wednesday night with a trip to Manchester United to follow.
“It’s exceptional,” White replied when asked about the mood at Arsenal.
“Gabi had a little hiccup and the reaction he gave was exceptional and really helped us get the win.
“I think the attitude and the desire that we all have every day in training is now showing on the pitch.
“Obviously it’s always nice to get the three points. They made it difficult for us and we made it difficult for ourselves with the goal, but the reaction from the boys was outstanding.
“With Fulham you always have a physical game. They have a big boy (Mitrovic) up top and he’s hard to deal with, but the boys did well.
Mitrovic’s opener saw him reach 100 goals for Fulham as he scored his fourth of the season, already eclipsing his comeback from the Whites’ entire relegation campaign two years ago.
The Serbian striker was a handful for Gabriel and William Saliba throughout Saturday’s game as he brushed off any criticism he couldn’t cut in the top flight.
“I don’t care to be honest,” he told the club’s official website.
“I know I had the confidence, the manager had the confidence, my teammates had the confidence in me, and what other people say, I don’t really mind.
“People have different opinions, but I focus on myself, I focus on continuing to work hard for the team, and when the team is playing well, I know we will create chances and that I will score goals.
“It looks good, and I’m really happy to score 100 goals for this beautiful club, and I hope there will be many more to come.”
