Oracle has released an initial beta of VirtualBox 7. VirtualBox can be used by you to install other operating systems in a virtual environment on a computer. This makes it possible to use different operating systems on the same computer side by side and at the same time. VirtualBox supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and Solaris. The full manual for the new beta can be downloaded here. The changelog reads, in part, as follows:
Audio recording: Vorbis is now used as the default audio format for WebM containers. Opus is no longer used.
Audio: Added a “default” host driver type to allow moving virtual machines (appliances) between different platforms without having to explicitly change the audio driver. When the “Standard” driver is selected, the best audio backend option for a platform is used. This is the default setting for newly created virtual machines.
Guest Control: Added initial support for automatically updating guest additions for
Linux guests added.
Guest Control: Implemented ability to wait for guest and/or restart guest when guest additions are updated via VBoxManage
VBoxManage: Guest Control added “waitrunlevel” subcommand to wait for a guest to reach a specific runlevel
Windows hosts: Added experimental support for running autostarted VMs in session 0 to allow VMs to run even if no user is logged in (disabled by default, please read the manual )
Guest Control: Implemented ability to wait for guest and/or restart guest when guest additions are updated via VBoxManage
