Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest live, Wednesday August 31, 7:30 p.m.
Manchester City will look to build on Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace by hosting Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
Palace (opens in a new tab) took a 2-0 lead at the Etihad Stadium last time out, with a pair of set pieces proving City (opens in a new tab)is coming apart. The hosts didn’t get started at all in the first half, with Patrick Vieira’s men holding them at arm’s length without too much trouble.
But led by Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva, City turned things around after the break. Palace couldn’t get out of their own half as Pep Guardiola’s side held them back, and a hat-trick from Haaland helped City triumph 4-2.
On the balance of the game, it was a fair result. Palace only had one shot on target all afternoon, despite scoring twice. City were at their best in the second half and their opponents had no answer.
Nevertheless, Guardiola won’t want a repeat of his performance in the opening 45 minutes. He will implore his side to get off to a quick start against Forest (opens in a new tab)who won 3-0 on their only previous visit to the Etihad in an FA Cup tie in 2009.
Steve Cooper’s side suffered a 2-0 loss to Tottenham (opens in a new tab) the last time. Forest’s approach play was quite good, but they were exposed by Spurs on the counter-attack and struggled to turn a decent builder’s play into clean-cut chances. They will have to be more secure defensively if they want to frustrate City here.
The champions will have to make do without Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake, but Kalvin Phillips could be fit enough for a spot in the matchday squad. Jack Grealish is about to take a late fitness test.
Forest will not be able to call on the services of Omar Richards, Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala for the trip to Manchester. Renan Lodi could be on the bench after his transfer from Atletico Madrid (opens in a new tab).
Kick-off is at 7.30pm BST on Wednesday August 31 and is broadcast on BT Sport 3 (opens in a new tab). See below for international streaming options.

VPN Guide
If you’re out of the country for a series of Premier League fixtures, your domestic on-demand services unfortunately won’t work – the broadcaster knows where you are thanks to your IP address (boo!). You won’t be able to watch it, which isn’t ideal if you’ve paid for a subscription and still want to follow the action without resorting to the illegal streams you’ve found on Reddit.
But help is at hand. To work around this, all you have to do is get a virtual private network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, which means the service can’t determine where you are and won’t automatically block the service you paid for. All information in between is fully encrypted – and that’s a result.
