Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has praised Cristiano Ronaldo for his “super humility”, but claims former team-mate Wayne Rooney is the best he has played with.
Martial picked up an assist in United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford last month, but the French striker has been limited to just 45 minutes of football this season due to injury.
Speaking to France Football about his past and present teammates, he said of Ronaldo: “He’s super humble – and what a hard worker.
“We often talk when we’re in the gym in the morning before we go to training and I was watching what he was doing. It makes sense, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo!”
Ronaldo is usually in the conversation when the best players in the world are discussed, but Martial cites United’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney as the best he has played with.
“We talked about being authentic so I can talk about Wayne Rooney,” he said.
“He’s the best player I’ve played with. He always plays for the team, always 100 per cent, no fuss. A monster. And a role model as a footballer.”
