Lewandowski has scored in both halves and has now netted 11 goals in eight appearances in all competitions since joining Barca from Bayern Munich in the summer.
Memphis Depay also scored his first goal for the Catalans after arriving from Lyon in July.
Depay’s strike was sandwiched by Lewandowski’s brace as Elche failed to bother Xavi’s side after skipper Gonzalo Verdu was dismissed early for bringing down the Polish forward.
Barca sit one point above Real Madrid, who play city rivals Atletico on Sunday.
