Developers of Bitdefender antivirus software and NoMoreRansom initiative have released a free decryption tool for data encrypted by LockerGoga ransomware. Signs of LockerGoga infection are the presence of files with the “.locked” file extension. The group behind the ransomware has been inactive since October 2021, when law enforcement arrested 12 suspected members. Instructions for the free tool can be viewed here. LockerGoga is a ransomware family discovered in January 2019 after successful attacks against several companies in the United States of America and Norway.
