Real Madrid striker Vinicius Junior has been the target of sickening racist abuse from Atletico fans ahead of Madrid’s La Liga derby at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The Brazilian hit back on Saturday after being the subject of a racial slur uttered by one of the guests of Spanish sports show El Chiringuito earlier in the week.
The 22-year-old posted a video in which he condemned racism and pledged to keep dancing on the pitch, following a barrage of criticism over the way he celebrated his goals over the week elapsed.
But outside the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday, scores of Atletico fans could be heard directing racial slurs at the Brazilian, with chants of ‘Vinicius is a monkey’ ahead of the derby.

Rodrygo opened the scoring in the derby after 18 minutes and the Brazilian striker celebrated by dancing alongside Vinicius in a show of solidarity with his friend and compatriot.
Earlier on Sunday, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus celebrated his goal against Brentford by dancing like Vinicius and the Real Madrid striker was supported by a number of top Brazilians including Pelé and Neymar.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have threatened legal action against anyone who racially abuses Vinicius or any of his other players.
