Sony plans to release new PlayStation 5s with removable disk drives in 2023

As Insider Gaming claims to have learned from inside sources, Sony plans to release a PlayStation 5 model by September next year which would have a removable drive. This model could then replace all previous models, but will remain with the current system as far as the remaining hardware is concerned. An additional USB-C port on the back of the new console should then provide the connection to the player. Presumably the console and player will be offered as a bundle, but Sony will also be offering the player individually as a replacement purchase. It could also be that the new PlayStation model is slimmer due to the space saved. So far, however, information on this is extremely limited, which is why the information should still be treated with caution.
