The England 2022 World Cup home kit is here – and it could be the interesting and most controversial English top ever.
Now in their 50th year, Nike aren’t afraid to be bold this time around with some of their World Cup kits, as Brazil, Portugal and the Netherlands have received wacky designs for their own campaigns. . But England might just be the hottest pot of the lot with layered sleeves being the big focus on this one.
Adidas and Puma have already released their World Cup kits, followed by the Swoosh – the Nike away shirt for the Three Lions has also been dropped. Almost all World Cup shirts have now been released ahead of the November tournament.

The England 2022 World Cup home kit may look strange now, but it’s definitely a producer
It’s a polarizing design – especially after two equally well-received home tops. The 2018 World Cup was plain and simple without offending anyone, while Euro 2020 saw a center aligned badge and swoosh, with a touch of 1998 nostalgia.
Well, Nike brought this one back to 1996, bringing the sky blue and royal blue accents of the Euro summit to their home ground in England. We have a lot of respect for that – it’s just the gradient that can creak.
But to defend the bland, it was time for the American manufacturer to deliver something a little less sure. It’s a great color, it doesn’t make the shirt look too loud or garish – and yes, it might look a bit like a training kit now, but it won’t when you see England play in this one.
What’s wrong with training kits, anyway? The 2018 pre-match jersey has proven to be one of Nike’s most popular, if not the most popular – England tops ever.
Sure, this one isn’t for everyone, but it’s actually a rare example of the perfect overlap between doing something deftly minimal and something to focus on in kit. We deserve something a little bolder after the Lionesses home shirt, which opted for a simplistic design and was never going to be beaten on that front.
It’s strange that this one will become a classic if England finally bring the World Cup home. This is not the kit you would imagine them in to win a trophy. But sometimes something a little different can help create an icon.
You can buy this one at Nike football – the other World Cup kits are there too.
