The news of Google Stadia being discontinued should come as no surprise to most of you. Nevertheless, the question naturally arises for you as to what will happen next if you subscribe to the streaming service. Google Stadia will be shut down on January 18, 2023. Until then, you still have access to your library and can still play games until the end. Google warns that there may be issues over the past few months, but expects most games to run normally. Regarding refunds, the company made the following statement in a blog post:

How does the refund work? This is not known at this time. Google plans to post country-specific updates to the blog soon. We will of course update this article for you as soon as there is new information. At the moment it looks like you don’t have to send in your gear to get the money back.

Google expects most refunds to be processed by the end of the service in January. The money should return to the original payment method.

You no longer have access to your original means of payment? Next, you should search for emails from Google that will give you instructions. This also applies to anyone who paid with a gift card that no longer exists.

Stadia Pro subscription is non-refundable: However, if you already had an active Pro subscription on September 29, you can access the library without being charged until the service is deactivated.
