The new system update is here and brings much less than the last

The PS5 has a new model and will be lighter than its predecessor

Update 22.02-06.00.01 for the PS5 is now available.

When you turn on your PS5 today, your console should automatically download a new system software update. Sony released it on Wednesday, the update has the version number 22.02-06.00.01.

  • Update size: 1.08 GB

But if you’re hoping that the current update will bring as many new features and improvements as the previous one, we’re going to have to disappoint you. Because according to Sony, the patch only improves on what we’ve seen in countless other updates in the past. The corresponding support page describes version 22.02-06.00.01 as follows:

  • This system software update improves system performance

Since there are no new features worth mentioning, it’s also not unlikely that Sony has closed a possible security hole with this patch or fixed isolated bugs. Reports surfaced yesterday that the PS5 is about to be jailbroken. You can find more information about it here:

The last update for the PS5 was just under a month ago, was similar in size, but brought a lot more “visible” features. These include, for example, native support for 1440p monitors or listings for your own game library. For a full list of features, see Chris’ PS5 review articles update 22.02-06.00.00.
