It’s in Google’s first smartwatch

In addition to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, the Google Pixel Watch is also its first smartwatch. It is based on its own Wear OS operating system in version 3.5. Packaged in a stainless steel case.

The heart of the Pixel Watch is its AMOLED display with a diameter of 41 millimeters. Google specifies a pixel density of 320 PPI and a brightness of up to 1000 nits. The front side is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

As previously suspected, the Exynos 9110 isn’t exactly the newest SoC that works indoors. However, the Cortex M33 is handy for performing various activities in an energy-efficient manner – for example measuring heart rate. 2 GB of working memory is used and 32 GB (eMMC) of storage space. Google offers an optional variant that also transmits over the LTE network on the go. By the way, a smartphone with Android 8.0 or higher is required.

Google specifies 294 mAh for battery capacity. Should be enough for 24 hours of battery life and can be recharged in 80 minutes using the USB-C magnetic charging cable.

Various Google services are included directly on the watch: there’s the Google Assistant, as well as Google Photos for your favorite photo as a clock face and YouTube Music. Also in the game: contactless payment via Google Wallet via NFC. You can also access many applications (Spotify, Strava, etc.) via Google Play. New to the party: smart home access via Google Home.

In addition to smart functions, all sorts of options for sports tracking have been incorporated. An optical heart rate sensor collects data during training and while you sleep. The ECG app is also available to review atrial fibrillation and to get information about an irregular heartbeat. When it comes to sports and sleep, Google relies on its expertise through Fitbit. For example, sleep stages (light sleep, REM sleep, and deep sleep) are broken down in the Fitbit app. 6 months of premium subscription is included with the purchase, which is necessary for further analysis and health values ​​(heart rate variability, respiratory rate, resting heart rate). From winter, accident and fall detection will also be included.

The other information? The Pixel Watch is water resistant and can withstand pressure at a water depth of 50 meters (5 ATM). The Pixel Watch is integrated into the Pixel ecosystem. For example, also offers access to “Find my device” or the camera app as a remote shutter.

The Pixel Watch is available with a stainless steel case in Matte Black, Polished Silver, and Champagne Gold colors.

Google will offer many bracelets for the Pixel Watch. A fluoroelastomer sports bracelet is always included in the delivery.

A yarn woven strap, a polyester and spandex elastic band and, starting next spring, a Milanese band and a stainless steel metal link bracelet will also be available. Also in the wallet: various leather bracelets.
