Ubuntu Pro, the enhanced maintenance and security compliance subscription, is now available in public beta for data centers and desktops. Canonical will offer a free subscription tier for personal and small business use. According to the developers, this aligns with the company’s commitment to the community and its mission to make open source easier for everyone to use.

Ubuntu Pro extends security coverage for critical, high, and medium CVEs (common vulnerabilities and exposures) to thousands of applications and toolchains, including Ansible, Apache Tomcat, Apache Zookeeper, Docker, Drupal, Nagios, Node .js, phpMyAdmin, Puppet, PowerDNS, Python 2, Redis, Rust, WordPress and more. Ubuntu Pro is available for all Ubuntu LTS from 16.04 LTS.
