Google likely expects strong demand for Pixel 7 devices

It wasn’t until the day before yesterday that we were able to report that Google’s Pixel smartphone sales numbers were likely mixed. According to IDC market research, Google only sold 27.6 million pixel smartphones – Samsung would be ten times the sales module, but across all models and model series. Google CEO Sundar Pichai, in turn, speaks of the “best-selling pixel smartphone”.

According to a report from Nikkei Asia, Google is at least in good spirits with the Pixel 7. Google has ordered 8 million units of the new Pixel 7 series, citing people familiar with the matter. If you can trust IDC’s numbers, that’s pretty ambitious – and smartphone market growth is also slowing.

Google has probably told vendors it plans to double its own smartphone sales by 2023 compared to this year. Google also wants to have taken great care of cheap Pixel smartphones. According to sources available to Nikkei Asia, it is planned to order 4 million devices. The American manufacturer wants to establish itself more strongly in Europe and in Japan in particular. Google did not comment on sales figures or units produced.
