Subscription campaign in NRW after the 9 euro ticket extended until the end of the year

The 9 euro ticket for local public transport expired at the end of August. Ideas keep being thrown around here and there on how things could continue. But there is nothing concrete yet, the federal and state governments do not seem to have reached a consensus on this yet.

In Berlin people now took the helm themselves and in NRW there was/is the adapted NRW ticket in September and October. Many AVV, VRR, VRS, WestfalenTarif or NRW-Tarif subscription tickets are valid throughout NRW. The promotion is valid all weekends, public holidays and during the autumn holidays. Another positive point: the free transport of people and bicycles is included on campaign days.

Now that we are approaching mid-October, it has been announced that the promotion will be extended again. The previous solution no longer only works until the end of October 2022, but you can use your ticket for the rest of the year as before. Maybe better than nothing for either, although probably quite complicated and absolutely without comparison with the 9 euro note. The FAQ page of the Mobil-NRW site can be found here.

The season ticket campaign in local transport NRW will take place directly after the 9 euro ticket campaign: From September to December 2022 you can use your season ticket to travel throughout NRW on the following days at no additional cost:

  • every weekend of the promotional period, from Saturday 3h to Monday 3h (September 3/4, September 10/11, September 17/18, September 24/25, September 1/October 2, October 15/16, October 22 /October 23, 29/30, November 5/6, November 12/13, November 19/20, November 26/27, December 3/4, December 10/11, December 17/18, December 24/25, December 31 )
  • public holidays: German Unity Day (October 3), All Saints Day (November 1), Boxing Day (December 26)
  • during all NRW autumn holidays (October 4-15) and NRW Christmas holidays until the end of the year (December 23-31)
