Free notes and journal app for iPad

This week we were able to announce that GoodNotes will also be available for Windows, Android and Web in the future. If you are looking for another free note-taking app for iPad, you can check out CollaNote. The notes app was developed by a student from Hamburg for digital notes.

The CollaNote notes and journal app is available for free in the App Store for iPhone and iPad and is also available on macOS through the Catalyst app. Like GoodNotes, you allow a folder structure for various notebooks. Notes can be handwritten. Alternatively, an integrated audio recording is available.

In addition to the possibility of creating entirely new notebooks, there is the function of importing PDF files and adding annotations to them. Alternatively, many templates and patterns can be used. Also integrated: A feature to collaborate live with others on a kind of whiteboard. A function that converts handwriting to text is also included. If desired, notes can be saved to iCloud.

Built-in tools for math work are also handy. Below is a tool for drawing graphics. Also nifty: a ruler, like those offered by OneNote – more are welcome, also in other note-taking apps. The design and user interface of the app could be a bit more modern and structured. For a free app, you have all sorts of useful functions. Outside of math tools, however, other paid apps have more to offer, at least for now. Before looking for a paid application, see if this application can be enough. A look at the change log reveals that the app receives regular updates and bug fixes. For example, the multi-window feature has recently been offered and tabs are offered.
