The Chinese car manufacturer NIO is now also represented in Germany and relies here on a subscription model. Kia probably likes this strategy too, as they launched a similar offering with “Kia Flex”. According to the company, this continues its transformation from a pure car manufacturer to a provider of sustainable mobility solutions.
Target? The new service with online booking aims to bridge the gap between short-term rental and leasing. Kia cooperates with subsidiary ALD Fleetpool for Kia Flex. Depending on their wishes, customers can choose between a 6, 12 or 18 month subscription period and different new cars from the Kia range, including electric models. Vehicles are delivered and returned by participating Kia dealerships.
Supported by the Kia dealer network, Fleetpool manages the operational activity of the subscription service and provides the IT platform, including the corresponding systems. Kia Flex is to be rolled out to other EU countries over the coming year. You first start in Germany.
How much should Kia Flex cost? The automaker is still silent about it. The offer will start in December 2022, and there will apparently be an app for that too. So next month we’ll know all about prices and vehicles on offer.
