Manchester United have expressed interest in bringing Miguel Almiron to Old Trafford.
That’s according to the player’s agent, who says the Red Devils have been in contact in the past. The Paraguayan has been in stunning form for the Magpies this season, with Eddie Howe’s side battling for a place in the top four.
Almiron has scored seven goals in 13 games this season – an incredible tally considering he only scored nine goals in the league before this campaign. Now the striker’s agent Daniel Campos has revealed the Red Devils wanted to sign him in the past.
“Miguel Almiron is a footballer who has gone from less to more, now he is a more complete footballer,” Campos told Paraguayan radio. Cardinal ABC (opens in a new tab).
“Manchester United expressed interest in Miguel Almiron, but they never made an offer. Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for Miguel Almiron, but we didn’t want it to be a loan.”
Manchester United were never revealed as a suitor for Almiron, so this admission is news. But given Manchester United have kept their interest in targets in the past and hunted them later, could Almiron be a future target?
It seems uncertain, but given the historical interest, stranger things have happened.
Almiron is valued at around 20 million pounds per Transfer market (opens in a new tab).
