Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is in the Blaugrana’s starting line-up during their La Liga clash at home to Almeria at the Camp Nou on Saturday night – the final game of his playing career.
Pique announced in an emotional social media post on Thursday that tonight’s game would be his last, saying it was time for him to retire.
The centre-back played an important role in the most successful era in Barcelona and Spain’s history.

With the Catalan club, he won 30 trophies, including eight La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns.
The 35-year-old was also a starter when Spain won the World Cup in 2010 and again when La Roja lifted the Euros two years later.
Pique, who played for Zaragoza and Manchester United before returning to Barcelona in 2008, will play his 616th official game for the club he grew up supporting.
