AC Milan (opens in a new tab)‘s 2-1 victory over Spezia on Saturday ended in dramatic fashion as Olivier Giroud appeared with an acrobatic winner in the 89th minute – then saw red for removing his shirt in celebration.
Giroud’s impressive left-footed finish was a strike worthy of taking off his shirt (and flexing his muscles in front of the Rossoneri fans), but there was a slight problem: he had already been warned – only six minutes earlier .

It was the seventh red card in the 36-year-old’s career; he was last sacked six years ago while playing for Arsenal (opens in a new tab) against PSG (opens in a new tab) in the Champions League.
Giroud is Milan’s top scorer with nine goals in all competitions this season, although Stefano Pioli’s side – who remained second in Serie A with this latest triumph – are expected to fight back to beat Cremonese without him on Tuesday.
France (opens in a new tab) international – who is three goals away from becoming his country’s all-time top scorer – may also be grateful for an enforced break with the World Cup just two weeks away.
