Apple is investigating issues with Siri

Apple has gradually improved its virtual assistant Siri over the years, but so far there hasn’t been much success against the competition. In terms of functionality and expandability, it lags behind Google Assistant and Alexa, although Siri works quite reliably, at least for me, and controls HomeKit and more.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman continues to start an online rumor and has spoken out again. According to this, Apple is changing the key phase to push Siri from “Hey Siri” to “Siri”. The whole thing should be rolled out in 2023 or 2024, but according to Gurman, it will require a lot of AI training and additional work. Understanding a single trigger word would be much more complex than a sentence. Alexa and Cortana are already on their way with a word, while the assistant still needs to be activated with “OK Google” or “Hey Google”.

Related to that, Gurman says Apple could also further integrate Siri into third-party apps and services and distribute enhancements.
