This is what premium smartphones should look like

There are currently new rumors about the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. Both smartphones would use the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as SoC. In the photo of the article you can see how the Xiaomi 13 Pro is supposed to look like. But mockups are also circulating for the regular version.

Let’s stick with the Pro model for now. A 50.3-megapixel wide-angle lens should ensure good photos here. Black, white, pink and green color variants are said to be in the works. The smartphone is expected to cost around 820 euros in India. The AMOLED screen will have a diagonal of 6.65 inches and will integrate a selfie camera in a punched hole in the middle. The dimensions are 163 x 74.6 x 8.8mm.

Unsurprisingly, the Xiaomi 13 Pro would come with stereo speakers, 256 or 512 GB of storage space and charging via USB-C. The smartphone is expected to launch on December 30, 2022, later this year.

The Xiaomi 13, on the other hand, would use an AMOLED screen with a diagonal of 6.2 inches and also a central hole for the front camera. Difference: While the Pro model uses a curved screen, the standard model’s is completely flat, i.e. not curved at the edges. In this case, the dimensions should be 152.8 x 71.5 x 8.3 mm.

The camera hill in particular is quite different on the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro than on direct predecessor models such as the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Xiaomi is expected to market the two new flagships very aggressively, especially in Europe and India. The regular Xiaomi 13 is of course expected to launch alongside the Xiaomi 13 Pro. I expect the manufacturer to ship a Lite version as well and possibly an Ultra version later.
