ARD Audiothek reaches smart TVs

According to the press release, the ARD Audiothek is now also available on the big screen, i.e. on smart TVs. This means that podcasts and live radio streams from more than 60 public radio stations, which were previously available via the corresponding app and a web version, are also available on televisions.

ARD Audiothek offers can be selected via the HbbTV homepage. Here, the HbbTV version of the audio library offers a selection of audio contributions: radio plays, thrillers, podcasts, comedy, documentaries, reports and knowledge formats. Podcasts are sorted by category or station. However, they can also be found via the so-called “discovery mode”.

When selected via HbbTV, live streams of radio programs are enriched with “visual radio elements”, as the ARD calls it. They therefore provide the user with additional information. Subscriptions, watchlists and reading lists can also be used via the ARD connection.

Viewers can also call up the audio library using the red button on the remote control in the HbbTV start bar. The audio library via HbbTV is available in Das Erste’s program and in all ARD third-party programs as well as via ARD alpha, ONE, tagesschau24 and all radio stations available via HbbTV.
