Twitter is testing a new profile tagging for verified phone numbers

From the outside, it looks like Twitter is falling apart more and more. What really happens behind the scenes at the end can only be guessed at for the most part. The Verge obtained a recording of an internal meeting where Elon Musk shared his vision for Twitter 2.0 with employees.

Among other things, it wants to encrypt direct messages, videos and calls between accounts to improve the privacy issue. In the past, there have been incidents of viewing direct message content. Literally, Musk says:

“It should be that if someone points a gun at my head, I won’t be able to view direct messages from users.”

Musk seems to have spoken to Moxie Marlinspike, who founded Messenger Signal and seems ready to help. Marlinspike likely worked for Twitter before and bounced back there with his then plan for encrypted messages. There is also an article from the Wall Street Journal on his activities on the social network.

Let’s see how this all evolves.
