With NIO, a Chinese electric car manufacturer enters the German market. The manufacturer has announced in advance what its cars cost by subscription or leasing. Now the purchase option for all models also begins. In this country, you start with a portfolio of three models: the NIO ET5, ET7 and the EL7. Delivery of the first purchase option vehicles should already be on the road in early 2023.

The option to purchase electric vehicles from NIO is in addition to the previously mentioned subscription models. With this, there are cars with prices between 1,000 and 1,500 euros per month, depending on the subscription model and vehicle configuration. The midsize sedan offers entry with the ET5. Here 49,900 euros are due in advance. Above is the ET7, the manufacturer’s flagship sedan. For those, you have to draw a lot more from your pocket at 69,900 euros. It gets even more expensive with the SUV, the NIO EL7. It costs from 73,900 euros. It should be noted that the prices mentioned do not include the battery. You don’t buy them from NIO. The prices also refer to the basic versions. Additional configurations or the environmental bonus are not taken into account.

The price of the battery comes on top of that. There are two options to choose from. On the one hand, there is the “Battery as a Service (BaaS)” model. Here you can rent the 75 kWh battery for a monthly fee of 169 euros. You also have access to Power Swap Stations (PSS). Here they offer a fully automatic battery exchange within 5 minutes, then the journey can continue directly. The argument of the fear of autonomy or “effort” during electric charging is thus dispelled. More than 1,100 power exchange stations are currently in service around the world. You have to see how quickly they settle in this country. The larger 100 kWh battery can be rented for 289 euros per month.

If you decide to buy the battery. Then the battery with 75 kWh will add up to 12,000 euros. Those of 100 kWh cost 21,000 euros. Considering the prices of the home storage system, it’s pretty fair, but it’s certainly already built into the price of the vehicle. If you decide to make a purchase, the battery becomes your property. Energy exchange stations are no longer used.

Electric vehicles can be purchased through the NIO website or through an app. Service appointments can also be booked here. Funding will also be possible at a later date.
