Meta Quest Pro: Launch of the new all-in-one VR headset

If you want to use the Quest 2 glasses from Meta Quest (formerly Oculus), you no longer need a Facebook account. Meta has reacted to the competition concerns of the Federal Cartel Office and now also offers the possibility of using the glasses with a separate account – the Meta account. With this, the sale of the glasses can and will start in germany. This also applies to Meta’s new Quest Pro:

Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt: “Thanks to the digital ecosystem created by Meta with a very large number of users, the company is the central player in the field of social media. Meta also occupies an important position in the market growth of virtual reality. If the use of VR glasses were only possible for Facebook or Instagram members, it could seriously affect competition in both areas. Meta responded to our concerns and offered a solution by creating a separate Meta account for using Quest Goggles. Despite this welcome development, we are not finalizing the process today. First, we want to continue to support the very design of user options as well as topics related to the merging and processing of user data from the various meta-services.
