One can almost wonder why it took so long: Homematic IP has long enabled users to make their lighting smart with networked buttons and actuators and to control it via automation, connection to presence detectors and movement or via a smartphone. Now eQ-3 takes the next step and integrates the Philips Hue lighting system into its own home control solution.
But users can up to five Include Hue lamps in your existing “Homematic IP Smart Home”. Of course, that’s very little for many smart home enthusiasts.
A Philips Hue bridge is required for integration. Additionally, users must have the Philips Hue app installed on their smartphone with an active user account and enable “On-the-Go Control” in account settings. Once done, the systems can be paired in the “Voice control and additional services” menu of the Homematic IP app and the existing Hue lamps can be added to Homematic IP.
The Homematic IP app update with version numbers 2.14.0 (iOS) and 2.14.6 (Android) is now rolling out step by step through the respective app stores and will be available to all users in a few days.
